10 Car Washing Tips Every Wavex User Should Know

Wavex quick take: Rinse first, foam pre-wash, two-bucket contact wash, and dry with plush microfiber. Top it off with a quick protectant for lasting gloss and easier future washes.

1) Wash in the Shade (or on a Cool Surface)

Heat bakes soap and minerals onto paint, causing spots and streaks. Choose early morning, late afternoon, or a shaded bay for safer washing.

2) Pre-Rinse to Remove Loose Grit

Knock off dust, sand and loose debris with a thorough rinse before you touch the paint. Less grit on the surface means fewer chances of swirls.

3) Foam Pre-Wash for a Safer Start

Use a pressure washer and foam lance with Wavex Foam Blaster Shampoo to blanket the car in clingy foam. Let it dwell for 2–3 minutes, but do not let it dry. Foam loosens grime and adds lubrication before your mitt touches the paint.

4) Use the Two-Bucket Method

Fill one bucket with shampoo solution such as Wavex Wonder Wash or Wavex Graphene Wash, and keep a second bucket with clean rinse water. After each pass, rinse your Wavex Wash Mitt in the clean bucket to keep dirt out of the shampoo.

5) Work Top-to-Bottom, Cleanest to Dirtiest

Start with the roof and glass, then upper panels, and finish with the lower dirtier sections and bumpers. This reduces the chance of dragging heavy grime across cleaner areas.

6) Refresh Your Mitt Often

Rinse your mitt frequently and reload fresh suds. If it looks contaminated, swap to a clean mitt. Clean tools help keep micro-marring away.

7) Clean Wheels & Tyres Separately

Use separate brushes and towels for wheels and tyres so brake dust never reaches the paint. Wash wheels first or last, but never with your paint mitt.

8) Don’t Let Soap or Foam Dry

Work in sections and rinse before the suds dry, especially in warm weather. Dried residue can leave spots and dull the finish.

9) Dry the Safe Way

Use plush microfiber like Wavex Ultra Wipe or Wavex Flash Dry XL / Twisted Loop. Lay the towel and pull gently, or blot. Avoid aggressive dragging. A blower helps remove trapped water from badges and mirrors.

10) Boost Protection After Every Wash

Spray-and-wipe a protectant for instant gloss, slickness, and better beading. Try Wavex Instant Ceramic Spray Coating on paint, plastics, and wheels, and Wavex Glass Shield Pro on glass for crystal visibility.

Your Wavex Wash Stack (DIY Essentials)
