Wavex Water Spot Remover Gel is a non-abrasive, paint-safe formula that removes fresh, surface mineral spots (Type 1) from paint, glass and chrome. If you’re not seeing results, your stains may be Type 2 (etched), which need abrasive correction—especially on glass—with Wavex Glass Polish Cum Hard Water Spot Remover.
What are water spots?
Water spots are mineral deposits left after water evaporates, often from washing in sunlight, sprinkler water, or rain drying on hot panels. They can remain on the surface or etch into the clear coat or glass.
Type 1 — Surface mineral spots
- Sit on top of paint, clear coat, or glass
- Usually look like a chalky ring or residue
- Can be removed chemically using Wavex Water Spot Remover Gel
Type 2 — Etched water spots
- Minerals and heat etch into clear coat or glass
- Appear as ghost marks or haze that do not wipe away
- Need abrasion. On glass, use Wavex Glass Polish Cum Hard Water Spot Remover
Why Wavex Water Spot Remover Gel is different
- Non-abrasive and paint-safe — no micro-marring or unnecessary clear coat removal
- Targeted chemistry — designed to dissolve Type 1 mineral deposits on paint, glass, and chrome
- DIY-friendly — helps stop fresh spots from becoming permanent etched marks
How to use Wavex Water Spot Remover Gel
- Work in shade on a cool, clean panel. Wash, rinse, and dry first.
- Apply a thin line of gel to a microfiber applicator.
- Spread evenly and allow a short dwell time of 30–60 seconds. Do not let it dry.
- Gently agitate with straight-line motions.
- Wipe off using a clean Wavex Microfiber Cloth 40×40 cm Grey 350 GSM.
- Repeat once or twice for stubborn Type 1 deposits.
- Protect the surface afterward with wax or sealant.
When you need abrasion: Type 2 on glass and paint
Glass — Wavex Glass Polish Cum Hard Water Spot Remover
- Abrasive-based formula that works on etched glass stains
- Best results come with a Dual Action polisher
- Manual application may help, but may not fully restore clarity in severe cases
- Glass only — not for painted surfaces
- Some heavy etched spots may not be fully removable, only reduced
Paint — escalation path
- Step 1: Try Wavex Water Spot Remover Gel for any remaining surface residue.
- Step 2: Use a Wavex Clay Bar with lubricant to remove bonded contaminants.
- Step 3: Correct etched marks using Wavex Alpha Cut, Wavex One Step Polishing Compound, or Wavex XT-Series Compounds with the right pads and machine setup.
Important: Compounding and polishing require the correct pads, machine speeds, and technique. If unsure, use a professional detailer to avoid removing excess clear coat.
